POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide process, project and continuous improvement engineering support across various Verona site engineering disciplines. This position works in conjunction with the site director, operations manager, controls engineer, maintenance, EH&S, Quality, and R&D with the purpose of providing stable site reliability and the continuous improvement of site equipment, systems and assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Works to advance and promote the safety culture of the company.
  • Monitors plant procedures, plant processes, equipment maintenance and makes informed process/equipment improvement recommendations to achieve safety, production, and efficiency goals recommendations for improved operations
  • Using Continuous Improvement techniques, recommend and implement projects that reduce cost, increase value, and improve quality; develop and evaluate Lean/Six-Sigma opportunities and coordinate and assist in implementation of approved opportunities
  • Deliver timely and effective technical support to address immediate or long-term operational issues
  • Review production data routinely to ensure accuracy and analyze for improvements
  • Ensure that all Safety, Health and Environmental systems are upheld to ensure environmental compliance and safety
  • Manages assigned capital project activities throughout the Verona site including design, installation, safety, cost, and helps coordinate projects; managing responsibility may include project and implementation activities
  • Submits recommendations on Safety, Quality, and Efficiency initiatives and projects to Senior Management for approval
  • Prepares SOP's for engineering functions, production operations, plant processes, and general procedures
  • Prepares and organizes engineering drawings and standards for buildings, equipment and processes
  • Provides engineering assistance to other departments as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial preferred) with a working knowledge of process design, controls, project management, mechanical design, and construction methods and their practical application
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience including process improvement in a chemical plant environment, project management, plant operations, and process control equipment and theory
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to foster teamwork in an organization
  • Ability to achieve proficiency in all aspects of processing and the ability to instruct and train operators on best practices and plant safety management
  • PREFERRED – Six Sigma green belt or black belt (or willingness to obtain)
