POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports the distribution of Slate Hill Encapsulates by coordinating shipping activities in accordance with transportation guidelines. Assists in establishing and maintaining shipping schedules for Balchem Encapsulates products to meet customer delivery requirements at the lowest possible cost. Prepares and supports shipment documentation for both domestic and international shipments, including booking freight with approved carriers and brokers. Provides day-to-day support to Slate Hill Encapsulates Shipping & Receiving operations to ensure business needs are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for performing all job requirements in a safe manner using the proper PPE and being a proactive safety role model with co-workers
• Responsible for correcting/reporting unsafe behaviors or equipment to ensure a safe working environment
• Responsible for cleanliness within the work department
• Follow all food safety practices and processes applicable to the department
• Perform/execute job duties keeping the company’s commitment to quality in mind
• Monitor and maintain all food safety activities as part of daily tasks
• Participate in all quality activities as it relates to food safety at Balchem
• Promote a quality environment based upon Balchem’s management and quality commitment
• Communicate with Customer Service and customers to confirm customer shipments and relay any deviations
• Verify and keep accurate records on outgoing shipments to support accounting and customer audits
• Prepare Customer Order pick list so the warehouse personnel have accurate information to pull a customer order in a timely manner
• Prepares paperwork for shipments (Bill of Ladings and any other required documents for shipments. Domestic or International Shipments)
• Enter Customer order shipments into the company system software package in an accurate and timely manner
• Forward Customer Shipping documents to the appropriate personnel
• Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures and customer shipping requirements
• Communicate with Customers and Carriers to properly schedule inbound and outbound shipments
• Maintain assigned Data files
• Serves as backup to Shipping & Receiving Team Lead when necessary. Provide day-to-day support as necessary in these areas.
• Able to be fork truck and scissor lift certified
• All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED required, higher education a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Shipping and Receiving Experience in a manufacturing or food environment a plus
• Experience with UPS/FED EX online software is desirable
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office – specifically Excel and Word
• Honesty and integrity
• Ability and willingness to learn, understand and follow documented work procedures
• Display a positive attitude
• Able to effectively communicate verbally with all levels of the organization
• Ability to multi-task, remain organized and maintain accuracy is critical to this position
• Experience with international shipping is a plus. Experience with transportation-related regulatory issues a plus. Hazardous materials handling understanding, and experience is preferred.
• Must be able to drive a lift truck.

• While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
• Occasionally required to kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, ascend and descend stairs and/or ladders
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• This job is primarily performed in a warehouse environment in a manufacturing location
• The noise level in the warehouse is generally moderate
• There may be times when entering the manufacturing plant is necessary in which exposure to machine noise and food dust is possible including exposure to allergens.

Salary Range: $22-$24 per hour
