Plant Manager Slate Hill NY

Location: Slate Hill, NY

 

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE: 

 

This position is the manager of all activities at the Slate Hill site. Organizes and directs the activities of site engineering, production, maintenance, safety, quality, and supporting services to meet the business commitments of the Corporation. This position is also responsible for maintaining compliance in Environmental, Safety and Health. Provides both short-term tactical plans and long term strategic plans to the ARC and Ingredient Solutions business groups. Responsible for the cost effective use of resources to meet the needs of the businesses. All functions will be accomplished safely, timely, economically and in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

  1. Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Works to advance and promote the safety culture of the site.
  2. Responsible for Safety, Security, Health and regulatory programs on site including, but not limited to, Process Safety Management/Risk Management plans, emissions permitting and reporting, and support of ongoing safety improvements.
  3. Responsible for managing overall operating expenses, capital projects and expenditures, and budgets.
  4. Responsible for supervising/developing direct reports in areas of Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Warehouse operations
  5. Coordinates activities with site QC Manager, ensures that all food products are manufactured in accordance with industry and regulatory standards for quality and food safety.
  6. Directs and approves production schedules to meet the demands of the business
  7. Oversees plant performance metrics and is responsible for continuous improvement activities at the site. Develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators and improvement plans against them.
  8. Directs the proper hiring and training of all employees.
  9. Prepares and submits the timely delivery of activity and monthly reports to keep Senior Management and others informed about the status of plant activities.
  10. Maintains a positive and healthy relationship with the community and regulatory agencies.
  11. Plant Host during customer, regulatory, and investor visits.
  12. Responsible for food safety and notifying Senior Management of any incident affecting food safety

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education and Experience:   

 

 

 

BS degree in chemical engineering or other engineering discipline. A minimum of 7 years experience with at least 5 in a chemical or food manufacturing environment. A minimum of 5 years experience in supervising the work of and coaching others.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

 

Work is mostly sedentary but intermittently involves climbing, standing, walking, balance and coordination when checking out sites or equipment. Travel is required on specific assignments.

 

 

 

VISUAL ACTIVITY:

 

Operates various equipment such as computers, drafting equipment and instruments involving scientific meters and measuring devices. Must be able to distinguish colors.

 

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

 

 

Works mostly inside in an office environment, but often required to be on the plant floor. Periodically works outside and is subject to changes in various weather conditions and temperatures. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, gloves and other protective equipment as required by the specific job assignment.
