Customer Service Specialist

Department: Ingredient Solutions
Location: Maryland Heights, MO


Responsibilities   include processing customer orders (some international), creating   international documents, entering complaints, and processing credits. This position will work closely with sales, supply chain, production, accounting, quality, and shipping/freight   forwarders.


  • Process customer orders accurately and follow them from order entry through final delivery.
  • Handle customer questions and inquiries in a quick, accurate, and professional manner; ensuring all issues are communicated to customer and customer service manager.
  • Work closely with the planning, shipping and 3rd party logistics to ensure customer orders are filled in a timely and accurately. Communicate current order status to the customer.
  • Plan, organize, and ensure proper execution of the entire order management process in a consistent, professional, and timely manner for all assigned accounts.
  • Create international documents as needed
  • Create pricing quotes and proformas.
  • Enter complaints, process credits and freight claims.
    • Communicate directly with customers, probing to identify their needs associated with existing orders plus initial qualification of new product requests. Work with internal resources to ensure rapid response to these needs and apprising the sales force of potential leads.
    • Secure and process customer orders as directed by CSM. Responsible for keeping all pricing entrees, list and off list, current.
    • Receive and respond to requests from existing and potential customers in regard to product information and apprise the appropriate business unit of potential leads.
    • Obtain accurate short term, less than 90 days, forecast information from sales team and customers.
    • Follows all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards.
    • Perform other related duties as necessary.


  • 4-5 years previous customer service required. Experience in the food manufacturing industry preferred, but not   required.
  • BS/BA degree preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines   in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent problem solving abilities, show great attention to detail, and have strong follow-up skills.
  • Understanding of export process; including completing international documents
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Experience with Microsoft office products and ERP systems
