Cost Analyst, Intercompany

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cost Analyst, Intercompany Operations supports the financial controls, inventory valuation, and accounting processes associated with intercompany transactions across Balchem's global network. This role helps ensure intercompany inventory transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, valued, and reported in accordance with company accounting policies and financial reporting requirements.

The analyst will support the monthly management of intercompany profit in inventory eliminations, partner with Supply Chain and Accounting colleagues to resolve transaction exceptions, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen accuracy, control, and scalability across Balchem's global intercompany operating model.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Intercompany Inventory Accounting

  • Maintain and support standard costing within D365, including the review of cost versions, transfer prices, inventory costing data, and related master data to ensure accurate valuation of intercompany inventory transactions and financial reporting.
  • Assist with analysis of manufacturing, purchase price, freight, and inventory-related variances impacting intercompany inventory valuation
  • Support accurate inventory valuation by reviewing intercompany receipts, shipments, transfers, and related ERP activity
  • Investigate inventory valuation discrepancies and partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Accounting teams to resolve issues
  • Assist with inventory-related month-end close activities, journal entries, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain documentation supporting intercompany inventory accounting, reconciliations, and issue resolution.

Intercompany Profit in Inventory Eliminations

  • Prepare and maintain monthly calculations supporting intercompany profit in inventory eliminations.
  • Analyze intercompany inventory balances, sales activity, cost data, and remaining inventory positions to determine unrealized profit requiring elimination.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting, Consolidations, Operations Finance, and business finance teams to ensure eliminations are complete, accurate, and properly supported.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, document, and automate intercompany profit elimination calculations and reporting.

Process Compliance and Controls

  • Follow established intercompany accounting policies, close procedures, and control requirements.
  • Support timely completion of account reconciliations and related supporting documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests related to inventory valuation, intercompany accounting, and profit in inventory eliminations.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations colleagues to resolve transaction and reconciliation exceptions.
  • Escalate recurring process breakdowns, data gaps, or control concerns to the intercompany team and management.

Partnership and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with Intercompany Planners, Supply Chain teams, Accounting, and Finance to resolve inventory, shipment, pricing, and transaction discrepancies.
  • Support monthly reviews of intercompany balances, inventory positions, reconciliation metrics, and open items.
  • Participate as an active member of the Intercompany Process Improvement Team focused on standardization, automation, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiency.
  • Support testing and implementation of ERP enhancements, reporting tools, and new controls.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, standard work, and accounting procedures.
  • Identify recurring transaction and reconciliation issues and provide recommendations for improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

  • ·Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or related field required.
  • CPA, CMA, or pursuit of professional certification preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, cost accounting, finance, inventory accounting, supply chain finance, or a related field preferred.
  • ERP experience preferred, including D365, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems
