Scheduler-Buyer

Department: Supply Chain
Location: Sleepy Eye, MN

This position will be responsible for acting as the liaison with Customer Service, Production staff, Logistics, and Quality to schedule production and purchase raw materials. Develop the manufacturing schedule for Powder and Inclusion Manufacturing to best utilize the facility. Maintain, develop, and utilize the Deacom MRP system.

       ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Optimize the production schedule to ensure data integrity, raw material availability and prioritizing open orders on the floor
  • Identify production floor capacity issues and recommend solutions
  • Manage shop orders i.e. create, modify, cancel and reschedule jobs
  • Place purchase orders, monitor delivery dates and problems. Adjust delivery arrangements in response to production needs.
  • Audit and approve all material invoices for payment.
  • Track and follow up with supplier non-conformance issues
  • Monitor inventory reports and sales contracts to ensure an optimum level of on-hand stock.
  • Responsible for managing rework and expired inventory
  • Distribute shipping and ordering information to various points in the plant as required by internal procedure. Review receiving slips and correct if necessary.
  • Utilize the Deacom MRP system
  • Monitor finished product label contents for legal compliance with FTC and other government agency regulations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the Corporation.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor degree in Business Management, Operations Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing and/or scheduling experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • APICS Certification desired.
  • Working knowledge of material / capacity planning concepts.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Familiar with extensive product offerings, short production cycles, and short delivery expectations.
  • High degree of analytical / interpretive complexity relative to fluctuating demand, manufacturing capabilities, aggregate capacities, plant optimization, product life cycles, strategic planning and key performance indicators.
