POSITION SUMMARY:

Balchem is seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to support the financial performance of its manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial analysis, and reporting, while partnering with plant, operations, and supply chain leadership to drive informed decision-making, improve business processes, and enhance operational efficiency.

The Senior Cost Analyst will serve as a key finance partner to manufacturing and supply chain leadership, providing financial analysis, cost accounting expertise, and operational insights that support business performance. This role will oversee critical close, costing, inventory, forecasting, and control activities while identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance reporting, and drive informed decision-making. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, sound business judgment, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead monthly cost accounting close activities for assigned manufacturing sites and business units.
• Prepare, review, and analyze manufacturing variances, including material, labor, overhead, purchase price, and production volume variances.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory, manufacturing costs, accruals, and other assigned areas.
• Support standard cost development, annual cost rolls, and periodic cost updates.
• Analyze inventory transactions and balances to ensure costing accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range operating plans for manufacturing operations.
• Partner with plant management and supply chain leadership to identify cost savings opportunities and improve financial performance.
• Provide financial support for capital projects, operational initiatives, and business cases.
• Review production orders, inventory movements, and cost transactions to identify unusual trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and present key findings to finance and operational leadership.
• Support internal and external audit requests and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
• Execute and document SOX controls related to inventory, costing, and financial reporting processes
• Identify opportunities to automate reporting, streamline processes, and improve data quality through technology and continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on cost accounting methodologies, reporting tools, and financial processes
• Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting, finance, or cost accounting experience.
• Manufacturing finance and standard costing experience required.
• Experience supporting multiple manufacturing locations required; experience supporting international manufacturing sites is a plus.
• Experience with inventory accounting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as D365, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms.
• Experience with financial planning and reporting systems such as Oracle EPM preferred.

The expected salary range for this role is $1000,000 -$120,000 a year.
