Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Agglomeration
Location: Defiance, OH

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate internal and external maintenance crafts on our plant assets following established program guidelines, and execute maintenance schedules. In this role, you will provide leadership, technical knowledge and collaboration with operations to ensure execution of maintenance services in the attainment of short- and long-term facility and group objectives and deploy strategies to optimize the company’s physical assets, processes and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • ·Act as a primary contact between production and maintenance, coordinate internal and external maintenance crafts following established program guidelines, and execute maintenance schedules.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance downtime and communicate cross functionally with technical and management teams to minimize production impact and improve reliability.
  • Provide field leadership and hands-on support for the team.
  • Provide technical knowledge, training, and troubleshooting guidance. Support on-call and off shift maintenance emergency needs.
  • Provide support related to hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards; works to advance and promote the safety culture of the site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, chemical, mechanical engineering or equivalent field work experience
  • Previous maintenance, operations, or construction experience preferred
  • Ability to follow maintenance workflow processes; work identification, planning, scheduling, kitting, and work execution. This includes MRO warehousing, part rebuild, and critical spare identification and storage.
  • Ability to support reliability and capital improvements, including nights and weekends when required.
  • Experience with root cause analysis.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, ERP)
  • Knowledge of food GMP’s a plus
  • Clear sense of urgency and ability to manage priorities to meet immediate needs and long-term goal
  • Ability to manage time and workload efficiently, and the ability to prioritize and modify priorities accordingly
  • Strong safety orientation
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work and develop others in a team environment
  • Sensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplac
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment while moving multiple simultaneous projects forward
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to discuss, develop, and implement plans
  • High sensitivity to quality and on time delivery of commitments

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
  • Often required to spend time in plant environments with operating and maintenance personnel requiring one to kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, ascend and descend stairs and/or ladder
  • Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
